Senior Program Manager

Job Description

We're seeking a dynamic Senior Program Manager to lead our development initiatives across East Africa, with a primary focus on Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. This role requires a strategic mind to oversee project cycles from initial design through evaluation while managing cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead program development, implementation, and evaluation across multiple countries
• Manage regional teams of 8-12 program officers and coordinators
• Establish and maintain relationships with government officials, NGO partners, and funders
• Ensure programs align with UHAFD's strategic goals and demonstrate measurable impact
• Oversee program budgets of £3-5 million annually with proper financial controls
• Develop monitoring frameworks and lead reporting processes for all regional initiatives

Qualifications

• Master's degree in international development, public administration, or related field
• Minimum 7 years of increasingly senior project management experience in East Africa
• Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-stakeholder development programs
• Strong team leadership skills with experience managing diverse, multicultural teams
• Excellent English communication skills; working knowledge of Swahili highly desirable
• Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with high-level partners
